Alhambra Dentist Receives 2011 Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry
CHICAGO (August 18, 2011) -The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), a professional association of more than 37,000 general dentists dedicated to staying up to date in the profession through continuing education to better serve the public, is pleased to announce that John Chao, D.D.S, MAGD, received the association’s 2011 Mastership award during the AGD 2011 Annual Meeting & Exhibits, held July 28 to 31 in San Diego, Calif.
The Mastership award is the highest honor available at the Academy of General Dentistry and one of the most respected designations within the profession.
“We are proud to honor Dr. Chao for his commitment to provide the highest quality of oral care to their patients,” says AGD President Howard Gamble, DMD, FAGD. “There are more than 160,000 general dentists in the United States and Canada and less than two percent of those are Masters with the AGD. It’s a remarkable accomplishment for Dr. Chao.”
Dr. Chao is a graduate of and clinical instructor at USC School of Dentistry and has established his practice of dentistry in Alhambra since 1983. In addition to the AGD honors, Dr. Chao is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Fellow of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants, and Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, among his many credentials and certifications. Additionally, Dr. Chao serves as a reviewer for a prestigious professional journal titled Advances in Clinical Periodontics, an on-line publication of the Academy of Periodontology. He has also been conferred the Lifetime Achievement Membership award by the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association.
Based on his in-depth knowledge and experience in so many fields of dentistry, Dr. Chao is uniquely qualified in non-surgically treating and saving severely loose or nearly hopeless teeth through a combination of cosmetic dentistry, bite stabilization procedures, advanced laser technology, anti-microbial therapy and standard gum treatment procedures. He is well-known throughout Southern California for his ability to treat extremely difficult cases.
Through his radio program called Smile Talk, he has for the last two years brought the latest news and developments in dentistry to audiences throughout Southern California on radio stations such as KRLA and KFWB. Most recently he has changed his radio show into a new TV talk show format which will be broadcast on Charter Communications, Time-Warner and other TV networks, starting in September, 2011. Dr. Chao welcomes inquires concerning any subject in dentistry from readers of this newspaper as well as listeners and viewers of his broadcast programs. He can be reached at CowardsWelcome.com or 626-308-9104.
About the Academy of General Dentistry
The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is a professional association of more than 37,000 general dentists dedicated to staying up to date in the profession through continuing education to better serve the public. Founded in 1952, the AGD has grown to become the second largest dental association in the United States, and it is the only association that exclusively represents the needs and interests of general dentists. More than 772,000 persons in the United States are employed directly in the field of dentistry. A general dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services related to patients’ oral health needs.
